Led a team that built Machine Learning solutions for innovative startups and established companies in the APAC region.

Recent projects include:

• Horse Race Betting Models: 18-month project modelling horse race probabilities for a Hong Kong betting syndicate. End-to-end pipelines built using custom scikit-learn transformers and PyTorch models.
• Handwritten Mathematical Expression Recognition: built an online handwriting recognition system for mathematical expressions for a Hong Kong based startup, that created LaTeX markup as output.
• Automated Freelance Platform: evaluated the feasibility of an automated freelancer profile approval system for a Japanese recruitment startup, including dataset analysis and system architecture design.
• Improving Recognition Accuracy: closed a 58% accuracy gap for an Australian vendor in their Licence Plate Recognition (LPR) system by merging alternate data sources in real-time.
• AI System Audit: performed a full audit of a Hong Kong IoT startup’s legacy AI system for automated climate control. Reviewed internal documentation and source code to make recommendations for improvement and alignment to industry best practices.
• Training Workshops: ran multiple AI for Executives courses for C-level executives at different companies, working with them to identify and prioritise AI projects specific to their company.

Deployed a series of load-balanced AWS EC2 instances running web scrapers and custom-trained Named Entity Recognisers. The system was built using the Python NLTK package and was used to identify and link more than 10,000 product names from news sources.

Incubated through Entrepreneur First, a startup scheme for UK’s brightest graduates. Implemented the Ruby-on-Rails back-end that included a bookmarklet written in jQuery, a comment system backed by PostgreSQL and a type-ahead search bar built using Websolr.

Completed thesis on “Internet Auction Processes and Mechanisms” and served as a Teaching Assistant for two undergraduate subjects: EE4-10 Probability and Stochastic Processes, and EE4-05 Traffic Theory and Queueing Systems.

Awarded First Class Honours, completing a dissertation on “Query by Humming”, a group project on “Temperature Mapping of the Lunar Surface” and electives in Algorithms, Databases, Logic and Probability.
